My Gear

The gear in use

Navigation

Camera equipment is a crucial aspect of photography, but it is not the only thing that matters. While quality equipment can help you achieve good results, it takes more than just gear to create great images. Creativity, composition skills, understanding of light and color, and the photographer’s ability to manipulate their equipment are all key factors in producing quality photos. It’s not just about having the best camera, but about the photographer’s vision and understanding of their craft.

Camera Gear

is not everything, but an important tool to express your creativity

Canon R5
My main camera body for photo and video. I have now finally switched to mirror-less cameras and sold my Canon 5D Mark III.
Canon R
Second camera body used for time lapses or used by Emmy (my wife).
Canon RF 15-35mm F2.8L
New in my assortment. Replaces my old EF 16-35mm 2.8 lens. I use for landscape and cityscape shots.
Canon RF 24-70mm F2.8L
My main lens. When I travel light, I usually take only this lens.
Canon RF 70-200mm F2.8L
I love the compression on these telephoto lenses. Currently I use the 70-200mm, but sometimes I wish I had more range like with the RF 100-500mm.
Canon RF 100-500mm F4.5-7.1L USM
Irresistible telephoto lens. A travel photographer doesn’t really need more telephoto than that.
Canon EF 35mm F1.4L II USM
Used to be my favorite lens, but now I only use it in dark lighting conditions.
Sigma 15mm F2.8 EX DG Fisheye
The fisheye lens always offers an exceptional perspective. Or ideal for high quality selfies.
Canon EF 85mm F1.2L II USM
This quick 85mm lens is mostly used for wedding, street, and portrait photography. The EF version will be phased out in favour of the RF version.

Drone Equipment

offers a completely different perspective

DJI Mavic 3
My all-time favourite toy. I’m a big fan of aerial photography. The DJI Mavic 3 is simply amazing. If you’ve never flown a drone before, one of the DJI models is a good place to start.
DJI Mini 3 Pro with DJI Smart Control (RC)
Awesome drone with only 249g weight, which makes it possible to fly in europe with less restrictions. Also great because less noisy than the DJI Mavic 3.
DJI Mini 3 Pro Fly More Set
One battery is simply not enough. With the Fly More Set, you will get two additional batteries, the 2-way charger, some propellers and a case.
DJI Mavic 3 Series Low-Noise Propellers
Spare propellers are always included. Fortunately, I have not yet need them for the Mavic 3, but with the old drone, I frequently managed to ruin the propellers on trees.
Freewell Bright Day
The Mavic 3 records at Dlog video codec with ISO400, for this reason ND filters are indispensable for daytime photography!
DJI FPV Remote Controller 2
I have only used it on the PC in the simulator so far. As soon as I’m good enough, I’ll get myself an FPV drone.
O’woda Mavic 3 Classic Case
Find the case great when you transport the drone in a suitcase or a normal backpack. The case is super padded and the drone is safely stowed.
DJI Mavic 3 Intelligent Flight Battery
Of course, enough batteries are required. Because the Mavic 3 batteries have a lengthy duration, three batteries have been sufficient for me throughout the day.
DJI Mavic 3 Battery Charging Hub
The most efficient technique to charge all three batteries in a row overnight. It’s not necessary, but I enjoy the luxury.

Action camera

see everything the world has to offer

GoPro Max
The 360° shooting radius offers completely new possibilities. Ideal for short and spectacular clips.
Insta 360 Selfie-Stick
I find the Insta 360 Stick much better than the GoPro variant. With an adapter it is also easy to mount.
GoPro Mount Adapter
Simple adapters to mount the GoPro on the Insta-360 stick.

Camera accessories

all the accessories you don't really need

Manfrotto Pro Light 2 Rucksack Multiloader M
Genialler backpack. I love in. Get everything loosely housed what I need so. Who needs a larger variant, should try the Manfrotto PRO Light Flexloader L.
Manfrotto Befree Advanced GT Aluminuim
My lightweight travel tripod. A good companion so far.
DJI RS 3 Combo – Video Gimbal
I’m new to videography, but wow, the gimbal is awesome.
Cokin WWZZU3H4-22 Expert Kit Creative Filter System Z-Serie
I don’t use filters that often, but they come into play especially when shooting landscapes with water. I use the Cokin system because it allows me to use filters for any lens with simple adapter rings.
Filter Hoya Fusion Antistatic Next CIR-PL
Of course, a polarizing filter belongs in every backpack.
K&F Concept Nano-X 82mm ND Filter (variable)
To achieve the appropriate exposure for daytime video shooting, I use this Varial ND filter.

SanDisk Extreme PRO MicroSDXC UHS-I 256GB
Super fast CFexpress card for the Canon R5 to ensure 4k recording over extended periods.
Moman CFexpress Card Reader
Use this card reader for the CFExpress card. Speed is very good and it was quite cheap to comparable products.
SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC Cards
Use various SanDisk Micro SD cards with very high speed. I use especially the micro cards, because I can operate with adapter all devices with it.
GODOX Litemons LED6R RGB
Simply ingenious and cheap. This RGB LED light is super adjustable and perfect to use for both photos and videos.
Lens Glas Anti Reflection
A must if you want to take pictures through glass panes. Used especially at vantage points in cities.

Helps me organize all the reserve cards before they disappear into the shallows of my backpack.
SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD 2TB
Super fast and small hard drive to back up data after a successful day.
Giottos GTAA1900 Super Rocket-air Blower
I should use the Rocket-Air Blower more often. Comes with me but actually only in sandy places to use.
Manfrotto MCLAMP Smartphone Clamp
Ideal to mount the phone on the camera, for example, to film additionally with the phone or to create a timelapse.
