Hanging Gardens of Bali

One of the most famous photo locations in Ubud, Bali is the incredible Infinity Pool of the Hanging Gardens of Bali. You can access the pool either by booking at least one night at the Hotel or you can eat Lunch / Dinner at the Restaurant. Reservation highly recommend. The best time is before sunrise at the poolside and be so kind to share the location with the other guests. You will not believe how many people are waiting here in the morning to get a photo.

Spitzkoppe

Spitzkoppe Nature Reserve is one of the favorite locations for astro-photography, but also a highlight when visiting Namibia. But also the golden hour is a fantastic time to be there. If you want to stay in the camp, you can either book the lodge or one of the camping spaces.

Borgarfjarðarhöfn

Borgarfjarðarhöfn is the perfect place to photograph the cute puffins. Down at the Harbour you can access cliffs where they are nesting. You can get very close to them. There is a small hideout, which gives shelter from the wind and is a bit warmer than outside. Especially nice if you are there pre-season. You will be asked for a donation of 1000 ISK to enter the hideout, but it is worth it.

Kirkjufell Mountain

If you searched for pictures of Iceland on the internet, for sure you have found this iconic location. This is one of the most easily accessible locations in Iceland as it’s right next to the Ring Road. The access is 24/7 all year long. The only thing to have in mind is the small parking lot at the main road. There is only a 200m walk from the parking lot to the main location where you can get the waterfall and the mountain in your frame.

Haw Pha Bang

The Haw Pha Bang temple in Luang Prabang is amazing when the sun hits the golden plates and beautiful colours starts to burn. You will find many nice photo locations inside the area of the Royal Palace around the temple. But our favourite photo location was on the opposite street where the way up to Mount Phousi starts.

Eibsee – Hidden Rock

Eibsee is a lake at the foot of Germanys highest mountain Zugspitze in Bavaria, close to the border to Austria. It is a quite famous location on Instagram, but still not so busy like Lago di Braies / Pragser Wildsee in Italy. Best time is definitely the morning, when the fog over the lake will be lightened by the first sunbeams.

Most famous is this hidden place with the rock upfront. The photo location is located at 47°27’35.7″N 10°58’34.3″E, but to reach this location you can either follow the coast line or enter a small foot path. You will find the foot path, when following the coast line for a few meters after you pass the boat launch location. The path starts at 47°27’40.7″N 10°58’37.1″E.

  • Location: Grainau, Baveria

Ninna-ji Temple

We discovered this hidden gem by accident. Unlike many of the temples that are among the main attractions in Kyoto, you can move around freely in the Ninna-ji temple complex. No barriers or signs prevent you from entering the rooms or other parts of the building. Therefore, the visit to this temple became something very special to us. Strolling through the rooms, discovering every corner or just sitting on the terrace gives you a taste of how it must have been to live in one of these houses. While the visitor crowds squeeze through the nearby Ryoan-ji, you can relax here and enjoy the garden – all at your own pace.

Handara Iconic Gate

The Handara Iconic Gate is a very popular Instagram location. You have to come very early in the morning to take some shots, otherwise you will need some time and nerves as this location gets so crowded, that you need to wait 1 hour to get a possibility for a picture without people. Before entering the gate, you will need to pay a fee of IDR 30,000 per person, when you are not staying at the resort.

Etosha National Park

It is not possible to recommend the perfect location in such a huge National Park, because the animals are changing their walking routes daily, but I want to tell you at least my favourite spots where we spotted a pack of lions and several herds of elephants. Nevertheless, you can find many different spots always close to the water holes.

We spotted the pack of lions parallel to the east-west road between Okondeka and Adamax in the North of Okaukejo near 18°59’37.6″S 15°50’07.3″E in the early morning. After entering the park at sunrise, we moved directly to the north and had luck to spot the king of jungle/desert. When the road crossed the path of the lions, we were really close to these amazing animals. It was a moment, which we will never forget.
