Spitzkoppe Nature Reserve is one of the favorite locations for astrophotography. But also golden hour worked great for use. If you want to stay in the camp, you can either book the lodge or one of the camping spaces.
Borgarfjarðarhöfn is the perfect place to photography puffins. You can come so close to them. Since a short time, there is a hideout, which is a bit warmer than outside. Especially nice if you are in pre-season there. You will be asked for a donation of 1000 isk to enter the hideout, but it is worth it.
If you searched for pictures of Iceland on the internet, you have found this iconic location. This is one of the easiest accessible locations in Iceland. The access is 24/7 all year long. The only think to have in mind, is the small parking lot at the main road. There is only a 200m walk from the parking lot to the main location where you can get the waterfall and the mountain in your frame.
Stokksnes is a beautiful location which is easily accessible from the ring road. The piece of land is private therefore you are requested to pay entry fee (currently 800 ISK) at the Viking Café. If the café is closed, you can buy your ticket via a vending machine directly at the entry to the Viking Café. You can scan the entry ticket to pass the barrier with your car.
This location is at any weather condition and any time wonderful for photography but take the right clothes. The wind can be very strong and cold.
The Haw Pha Bang temple is amazing when the sun hits the golden plates and beautiful colours starts to burn. You will find many nice photo locations inside the area of the Royal Palace around the temple. But our favourite photo location was on the opposite street where the way up to Mount Phousi starts.
This is an amazing location, but be sure to be in the early morning when Kuang Si opens, otherwise it will be very crowded. You will find this location on the way to the big waterfall. Just follow the pass, you can’t miss it. And take some swimwear with you, if are while dry season here. You will not regret. During rain season there is too much waterflow to swim.
Eibsee is a lake at the foot of Germanys highest mountain Zugspitze in Bavaria, close to the border to Austria. It is a quiet famous location on Instagram, but still not so busy like Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee in Italy. Best time is definitely the morning, when the fog over the lake will be lightened by the first sunbeams.
Most famous is this hidden place with the rock upfront. The photo location is located at 47°27’35.7″N 10°58’34.3″E, but to reach this location you can either follow the coast line or enter a small foot path. You will find the foot path, when following the coast line for a few meters after you pasted the boat launch location. The path starts at 47°27’40.7″N 10°58’37.1″E.
The Handara Iconic Gate is a very popular Instagram location. Either you come very early in the morning to take some shots, otherwise you will need some time and nerves. This location is so crowded, that you need to wait 1 hour to get a possibility for a picture without people. Before entering the gate, you will need to pay a fee of IDR 30,000 per person, when you are not located at the resort.
There is not much specials to consider, just enjoy this amazing location.
It is not possible to recommend the perfect location in such a huge National Park, because the animals are changing their walking routes daily, but I want to tell you at least my favourite spots where we spotted a pack of lions and several herds of elephants. Nevertheless, you can find many different spots always close to the water holes.
We spotted the pack of lions parallel to the east-west road between Okondeka and Adamax in the North of Okaukejo near 18°59’37.6″S 15°50’07.3″E in the early morning. After entering the park at sunrise, we moved directly to the north and had luck to spot the king of jungle/desert. When the road crossed the path of the lions, we could come so amazing close to these amazing animals. It was a moment, which we will not forget forever.
