Eibsee – Hidden Rock

Eibsee is a lake at the foot of Germanys highest mountain Zugspitze in Bavaria, close to the border to Austria. It is a quiet famous location on Instagram, but still not so busy like Lago di Braies/Pragser Wildsee in Italy. Best time is definitely the morning, when the fog over the lake will be lightened by the first sunbeams.

Most famous is this hidden place with the rock upfront. The photo location is located at 47°27’35.7″N 10°58’34.3″E, but to reach this location you can either follow the coast line or enter a small foot path. You will find the foot path, when following the coast line for a few meters after you pasted the boat launch location. The path starts at 47°27’40.7″N 10°58’37.1″E.

Photo Spot:

  • Location: Grainau, Baveria
  • GPS Position: 47°27’35.7″N 10°58’34.3″E
  • Time: always, but best at sunrise
  • Access: 24h/7

Ninna-ji Temple

We discovered this pearl by accident. Unlike many of the temples that are among the main attractions in Kyoto, you can move around freely in this temple complex. No barriers or signs prevent you from entering the rooms or other parts of the building. Therefore, the visit to this temple became something very special. Strolling through the rooms, discovering every corner or just sitting on the terrace. While the visitor crowds squeeze through the nearby Ryoan-ji, you can relax here and enjoy the garden – all at your own pace.

Handara Iconic Gate

The Handara Iconic Gate is a very popular Instagram location. Either you come very early in the morning to take some shots, otherwise you will need some time and nerves. This location is so crowded, that you need to wait 1 hour to get a possibility for a picture without people. Before entering the gate, you will need to pay a fee of IDR 30,000 per person, when you are not located at the resort.

There is not much specials to consider, just enjoy this amazing location.

Etosha National Park

It is not possible to recommend the perfect location in such a huge National Park, because the animals are changing their walking routes daily, but I want to tell you at least my favourite spots where we spotted a pack of lions and several herds of elephants. Nevertheless, you can find many different spots always close to the water holes.

We spotted the pack of lions parallel to the east-west road between Okondeka and Adamax in the North of Okaukejo near 18°59’37.6″S 15°50’07.3″E in the early morning. After entering the park at sunrise, we moved directly to the north and had luck to spot the king of jungle/desert. When the road crossed the path of the lions, we could come so amazing close to these amazing animals. It was a moment, which we will not forget forever.

Burg Eltz

Best time for photographing Burg Eltz is early morning or late afternoon, otherwise it is massively crowded. I didn’t expect to find so many crowds there. I think only Angkor Wat and Taj Mahal were more crowded even at sunset.

To reach this location, you can park your car at the parking location on the top at 50°12’42.8″N 7°20’21.5″E. Now there are two ways to reach the castle. I really recommend to use the road at the south end of the parking space, where the shuttle is operating and not the foot path at the west of the parking space. Taking the road on the way down to the castle, you will find the first outlook at the small chapel at 50°12’26.8″N 7°20’12.3″E and the second one at 50°12’27.5″N 7°20’17.1″E.

Down at the castle you will find the most famous frontal view on the castle at 50°12’22.4″N 7°20’11.5″E and there are several possibilities for a beautiful sideview by taking the footpath on the right of the castle.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

Pura Bratan is a location which is hardly connected to luck for weather conditions. We had always either bad weather with deep fog or sunny without any clouds. Maybe just bad luck. Nevertheless, this is an amazing photography location for landscape, travel and Instagram photography. You can just enter the area before opening ours through the main entry.

If you want to rent a boat before opening hours, just ask some of the workers in the area, they can organize you a boat for small fee. Really friendly stuff.

This location is also great to meet other passionate photographers. I meet Stefan & Janina from thewolf0ftravel on their world travel. Thanks to Janina I could take some beautiful photos for Instagram, as replacement for Elise, who preferred to take a longer sleep. Love you anyway sweety 🙂

Kolmanskop

Get a sunrise to sunset permit a day earlier to enter the museum by your own. The official opening hour is around 9:00 am and closing hour is around 1:00 pm. Wait for the perfect low light to get the best light play between the room of the abandoned houses. I recommend mainly the buildings around the below mentioned GPS Position. They are the most popular and most spectacular, but nevertheless check out also the other houses. There is always something to find out.

Munduk Moding Plantation

Staying at least one night in this beautiful resort gives you the possibility to make some sunrise and sunset pictures at one of the most amazing infinity pools in the world. The view is majestic. You stay above the clouds. More infinity is not possible.
Pay attention that this spot is very popular and many guests want to shot at sunset, therefore calculate some waiting time. Try to not be to early on row, because the light is getting better and better.

Dead Vlei

What a great and calm place. If you see the sun going down at this place, while hearing the silence of nature. Just amazing. There is no special position in Dead Vlei. There are so many beautiful trees and perspectives from you can choose. Be creative.
To be able to stay a bit longer in the park, make sure that you stay in the Sossus Dune Lodge. In this case you can start your tour one hour before sunrise and end one hour after sunset. But keep in mind that Dead Vlei is around 60km from the Lodge and the last few kilometers are only accessible with an 4×4 vehicle and lower speed.

Manta Bay

Biggest chance to see mantas is at the Manta Bay at the coast line of Nusa Penida. You can take tours every morning from many different locations. Our adventure in Namibia begins!

Honeymoon begins … Bali we are coming!

Malojapass & Julierpass

Finally at 8am, the street from Sankt Moritz to the amazing Malojapass was opened. This is what we waited yesterday for. This pass is so amazing, that we could not leave without seeing it. First it was very cloudy, but when the sun came of, it was so fantastic. After taking some shots (some means hundreds) we were heading to our next stop Davos. On the way we drover over the Julierpass and stopped also here for some dronies. I think some of these shots will end up as prints on our wall.

A day in Sankt Moritz

The beautiful city of St. Moritz. Today we were seeking for the passes to take pictures from top with my drone, but mainly all were closed because of snow, so we spend most of the day in valley. Only the Julierpass was open in the afternoon, but it was to foggy for good pictures. Lets hope for tomorrow.

First day of our Roadtrip

Our first day on our road trip to Switzerland is over. We started in Flims in the morning and moving to the beautiful city of St. Moritz. In Flims we spend the morning at the Cauma Lake, taking some nice mirror pictures and some drone shots with my DJI Mavic Pro. Trying to find my perfect setting, but I am coming closer. The way to Sankt Moritz was an adventure.

Taj Mahal

Be one of the first at sunrise. It is becoming very early very crowded and it stays the complete day crowded until sunrise. The most famous photo position is in the middle of the garden with a straight view on the Taj Mahal. You will get beautiful reflections in the water.
This photo spot is located inside a locked area. Please check the opening hours, which are around sunrise to sunset.

  • Location: Agra, India

First day in paradise

What a wonderful first day in paradise. Our stay in the Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa Resort started great, the food is delicious, the desserts a dream. Can’t decided, if the dessert or the crystal clear water is better. The first sharks and sting rays were spotted directly in front of our water bungalow. Amazing!

Potala Palace

Another crowded photo spot, which is worth to wake up early. The view on the majestic Potala Palace is just stunning.
But this location doesn’t offer much space, therefore be around one hour before sunrise to get space to place your tripod. I was 30 min before sunrise and I had to settle for a less than optimal position. I had to wait until the first photographers left their space to get a better position.
This photo spot is located public and can be accessed 24/7.
