Best five temples in Angkor

Our five favorite temples in the Angkor area you must visit at your stay in Cambodia. You will recognize them from web and TV. Did you know that one of them was location for the Tomb Raider movie? Do you know which one?

1. Angkor Wat

The best know temple in Cambodia is Angkor Wat. The temple is on of the most beautiful complex build in ancient human history. The sunsets at the mirror lakes in front of the main building are famous. You will find here thousands of people every morning waiting for the sun raising behind the temple. If you are in Cambodia, you need definitely to visit this temple in the early morning.

2. Ta Prohm

Ta Prohm is a typical symbol of a temple you imagine, when planning to go to Cambodia. The huge trees climbing up the temple walls are even more impressive then the temple itself. You will feel it, when standing in front of them. Many of the walls will only be stick together by the roots of the trees. The atmosphere is so impressive that Simon West decided to use Ta Prohm as scenery for his Tomb Raider movie with Angelina Jolie.

3. Banteay Kdai

You will love Banteay Kdai. This temple is much smaller than the other ones, but it impresses with its small corridors, many beautiful room, windows and Asparas. The construction type of this temple is similar to Ta Prohm, but because the main bus tourists are passing by, you will have you time to enjoy in calmness.

4. Bayon

Bayon is beside Angkor Wat the most famous temple in Cambodia. With its thousand face you will feel watched everywhere you go. This temple is the center of the Angkor Thom complex, which you can enter by one of the five impressive gates. Four at each cardinal point and one additional, the Victroy Gate, at the east side.

5. Preah Khan

Praeh Khan

This temple is beautiful in the morning hours, when nobody is at there, beside a old nun praying. If you meet here, you will feel aura. What a nice lady. Don’t be shy and explore also the surroundings of the temple. The morning light will make a colorful play between the trees.
